NOTE: The candidate whose mother belongs to Scheduled Castes but Married to Hindu, Sikh or Buddha is eligible for a seat reserved for Scheduled Castes subject to verification of such caste of mother and Production of Caste Validity Certificate.

 

Non-Creamy Layer Certificate:

The candidates claiming to belong to categories NT2, NT3 and OBC shall submit a certificate, valid for the current year and issued by concerned Sub Divisional Officer /Deputy Collector / Collector that the parent of the candidate do not belong to creamy layer as per the relevant orders of the Government from time to time.

 

2 PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED (P.H.) 

 

The physically handicapped candidates Shall have 3 % (of total intake capacity) seats reserved provided the candidate is physically capable to undergo the training and to carry out the jobs of the concerned discipline.

 

(a)   As per the provisions in Clause 39 of Equal Opportunities, Protection of rights and full participation act 1995, three (3) percent seats of sanctioned intake Capacity of each course, in all the Govt. and Non Govt. Aided polytechnics, shall be reserved for physically handicapped candidates. These seats shall be within the sanctioned intake of the institute.

 

b) As per provisions of the act in (a) above, out of the three percent reservation for physically handicapped candidates, one (1) percent of seats shall be reserved for blind candidates, one (1) percent of seats shall be reserved for speech & hearing impaired (deaf & dumb) candidates, and one (1) percent of seats shall be reserved for candidates with orthopedic disorders or mentally retarded candidates.

 

(c)Certificate required:

The candidate shall produce certificate, in the prescribed proforma. i.e. ‘Proforma A’, from the Director. All India Institute of Physically Handicapped, Mumbai or Civil Surgeon, regarding his or her physical disability, and ability to undergo all parts of syllabus such as theory, practicals, workshop etc. for the course.  

 

3 DEFENCE SERVICES PERSONNEL (DSP)

 

The spouses/sons/daughters of the (a) Defense Service Personnel and (b) Ex-Defense Service Personnel shall have 5% (of total intake capacity) seats limited To 5 seats reserved in an institution, provided the guardian, unless permanently Disabled or killed in action, has rendered at least five years’ active service.

Five (5) per cent seats of the total sanctioned intake, subject to a maximum of five (5) seats in each Government and Non Government Aided polytechnic shall be reserved for sons and daughter of defense service personnel, including those permanently disabled or killed in action. These seats shall be within the sanctioned intake of the institute. This reservation shall be applicable, subject to the following:

 

i) In case of active defense service personnel domiciled in the state of Maharashtra, the candidate shall be eligible for admission, even if he/ she does not satisfy the condition stated in B-2(a), irrespective of whether the defense service personnel are posted within Maharashtra or outside Maharashtra, as on the last date of submission of application form. Such as candidates shall have to produce the domicile certificate of the father / mother, who is an active defense service personnel, as the case may be, along with their application form. In the case of mother’s domicile certificate, the candidate shall submit an affidavit on Rs. 10 stamp paper, stating that the person in whose name the domicile certificate is issued, is the mother of the candidate. The district level   reservation for such candidates shall be decided based on the place of passing S.S.C.  ( Std. X) examination, if it is Maharashtra, or the place of domicile of the father/ mother, who is an active defense service personnel, as the case may be.

 

(ii) In case of active defense service personnel not domicile in the state of Maharashtra, but posted in Maharashtra, as on the last date of submission of application form, the candidate shall eligible for admission even though he / she does not satisfy the condition stated B-2 (a). Such candidates shall have to produce a copy of the transfer order, subsequent joining report and a certificate from his / her office stating that the father / mother, who is an active defense service personnel, is not transferred outside Maharashtra after joining duties in Maharashtra  after joining duties in Maharashtra, along with their application form. The district level reservation for such candidates shall be decided based on the place of passing S.S.C.( Std. X) examination, if it is in Maharashtra, or the place of posting of the father/ mother, who is an active defense service personnel, as the case may be.

 

(iii) The candidate who desires to claim a seat reserved for son and daughters of ex-service personnel, shall be eligible for admission even though he / she does not satisfy the condition stated in B-2(a). They will be required to produce a domicile certificate of Maharashtra state of his or her father / mother, who is an ex-defense service personnel as the case may be. In case of mother’s domicile certificate, the candidate shall submit affidavit on Rs. 10 stamp paper, stating that the person in whose name the domicile certificate is issued, is the mother of the candidate. The district level reservation for such candidates shall be decided based on the place of passing S.S.C.(Std. X) examination, if it is in Maharashtra, or, the place of domicile of the father / mother, who is an ex-defense service personnel, as the case may be.

(iv)To be eligible for these seats, the following conditions shall apply:

(a)  The candidate is a son or daughter of the

 person who has been a member of the Armed Forces of India and who has put in a at least 5 years of active service and has been subject to Indian Army Act, Indian Navy Act, Indian Air Force Act and also includes ex- servicemen who retired from such service or were permanently disabled or killed in action The condition of minimum active service of 5 years shall not be applicable to the service personnel who are permanently disabled or killed in action.

(b)  The candidate shall be required to produce a certificate in the prescribed proforma, i.e. ‘Proforma B’, from the appropriate authority of Armed Force in the rank of Commandant or equivalent or from District Sainik Board, certifying that the candidate fulfils the condition (a) above.

 

4    FEMALE CANDIDATE (FE)

 

i) There shall be 30% seats reserved for female candidates in the course where the seats are open for male as well as female candidates.

ii) There seats reserved for female candidates shall have further reservation among themselves for the categories mentioned in these rules.

 

5 TECHNICAL CANDIDATES (TE)

 

i) There shall be 15% seats reserved for the candidates taking Technical subject(s) as prescribed by the Board of Technical Education Maharashtra   State for   different courses and passing therein in the Secondary School Certificate Examination.

 

ii) For deciding the merit of such candidates the marks scored by the candidate in the SSC Examination along with  the marks scored by him in the Technical Subject (s) shall be considered. The seats reserved for these candidates shall have further reservation among themselves for the categories mentioned in these Rules.

 

6 MINORITY RESERVATION

20% Reservation for Minority clause is likely to be implemented. However the approval is awaited.

 

PROCEDURE FOR RESERVED CATEGORIES ADMISSIONS:

(a)    These reservations shall be course wise in an institution.

(b)    These reservations are admissible only for the candidates domiciled in the state of Maharashtra.

(c)    If a candidate belongs to more than one category of reservations his candidature shall be considered in the same sequence of reservation as occurring in these Rules.  It shall be treated that the candidate has availed of the reservation under which he is admitted.

(d)    If any of the backward class categories mentioned above, do not get the required number of candidates for the percentages laid down, the seats so remaining vacant shall first be filled in from among all the candidates (male or female) of Special Backward Class (SBC) category to the extent of two per cent seats of intake capacity of the course. After doing so, the seats remaining 'vacant' in the respective group of categories as mentioned below shall be offered to candidates from the respective 'Group' with reference to their inter se merit.

 

Group 1: i) Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Castes converts to Buddhism (SC)

                 ii)Scheduled Tribes including those living outside the Specified  areas (ST) 

 

Group 2: i) Vimukta Jati (VJ)

                ii) Nomadic Tribes (NT1)

 

Group 3: i) Nomadic Tribes 2 (NT2)

              ii) Nomadic Tribes 3 (NT3)

              iii) Other Backward Class (OBC)             

 

(e) The seats remaining 'vacant' in reserved categories after completion of the above round shall be made available to the candidates of all the reserved categories together on the basis of inter-se merit of all the reserved categories. The reserved category candidates

already admitted but desirous of seeking change to a seat that was not available to them should attend this round for a change. Seats falling vacant due to transfer shall be made available to the next candidate in merit.

(f) If any of the seats reserved under these Rules for any of the categories cannot be filled in for any reason .The candidates of all the categories (Open and reserved together) as per general merit list will be considered for admission at the respective Admission Centres for admission, against these vacant seats.

(g) Unless otherwise restricted, the seats reserved under this Rule are the minimum seats assured for the respective categories of the candidates. By standing in general merit they may secure any number of seats.

 

6   RESERVATION FOR J AND K MIGRANTS

                                                                                               

One seat per course in all Government, Aided and UN-aided Institutions in the State is reserved for the children of citizens displaced due to terrorist activities from Jammu and Kashmir and also children and officers belonging to I.A.S., I.P.S, I.F.S., and other similar cadres and staff belonging to Military and Para-Military forces transferred to Jammu and Kashmir to deal with terrorist activities.  In order to be eligible for admission the student ought  to  fulfill  prescribed  minimum educational qualification as per rule B-1.The applications are to be sent to the Principal, S.B.M Polytechnic, Vile Parle (West), near Cooper Hospital, Mumbai – 400 056 on or before 5.00 p.m. on the last date prescribed.

 

7   OMS CANDIDATES (OUTSIDE STATE CANDIDATES)

If, after exhaustion of the general merit list and after cut off date of admission for the candidates from Maharashtra, there are some seats vacant in the unaided Institutions, the candidature of the candidates from the other States and Union territories may be considered by preparing a separate merit list of these candidates.  The head of concerned unaided Institutions shall do these admissions. But in any case the percentage of out side Maharashtra candidates should not exceed 20% of the sanctioned intake for any course in the institution.
