The Vivekanand Education Society Polytechnic (VESP), which thrives over its merit holders in the MSBTE examinations, proved their mettle in the extra-curricular activities arena by organising a cultural extravaganza Sanskriti08.

The festival that took place on the college grounds on January 11-12, 2008, saw participants turning over in whopping numbers.Sanskriti kicked off with their first event LAN gaming, with gaming enthusiasts competing against each other in games like Counter Strike, FIFA and Need for Speed, with MCM Lounge being the Gaming Partner.

The Art Attack event included events like Rangoli , Jewellery making, Mehendi and salad competitions. One of the most innovative events was Graffiti, where participants were given the freedom to draw pictures reflecting the motto of the fest.
The main USP of the day was Sensex 08 where branches of Computer Technology (CM), Electronics and Telecommunication (ET), Instrumentation (IS) and Industrial Electronics (IE) were listed as companies and their stock prices fluctuated according to their points tally in individual events. The teams were asked to sell their products with an impressive marketing strategy.

The vibe that fluttered the campus was that of enthusiasm and creativity. Sanskriti has given us a new dimension beyond academics, where we students got the chance to plan, conceptualise, visualise, market and organise, says Mihir Vora, Cultural GS of Sanskriti08.

This year the students presented the bollywood theme of Bombay to Mumbai. The entire event was choreographed by students, and they were allotted time for rehearsals. It was heartening to see so many sponsors coming forward for this endeavour,  and the amount of hard work put up by the committee members and faculty is inexpressible, says Surendar Rawat, lecturer of VESP and part of the organising committee.

Principal of VES Polytechnic, Radha Sivadas, said, It was a moment of immense joy, because we inaugurated this fest on the eve of the silver jubilee.

The chief guest Govind Bora, general manager, Apar Industries graced the occasion by urging the students to adopt positive attitude through his real time experiences.

The fest also saw the felicitation of its meritorious students and the launch of its annual magazine, SHILP. Sanskriti is touted to be one of the best-organised events in the recent past. With dedication and hard work of the volunteers and the encouragement from the college fraternity, VESP hopes to host the fest on a grander scale next year.
